Social worker Gabriël Bos supports transgender refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants with their medical, social, and legal transition.
Gabriël is one of the most involved volunteers and also works at VluchtelingenWerk Nederland. He is the main contact person for transgender newcomers in the Netherlands. He provides personal support like: visits transgender individuals in asylum seeker centers; goes to the hospital after a desired surgery when someone has no other family support; and enjoys meeting personally at the T-house in Amsterdam to talk about:
- Asylum procedure – practical matters such as accommodation, healthcare within the asylum center, or safety
- Care and guidance regarding medical procedures
- Change of first name and gender registration
- Exploration or introduction within transgender networks
