Support for general practitioners (GP)

Some general practitioners feel comfortable guiding people in their practice with Hormone Replacement Therapy, either because of an affinity with transgender care, or wanting to reduce psychological stress due to the long waiting lists, as wanting to avoid informal hormone use. Well-described evidence-based protocols from international healthcare providers are available online (such as from the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health, University of California, San Francisco: https://transcare.ucsf.edu/guidelines/initiating-hormone-therapy.)

If you have a general practitioner who is willing to start hormone care, but would like advice on this, they can approach us for advice on hormone care (). Needless to say, your doctor must be willing to take that step. It is not part of their standard range of tasks, so often only GPs with affinity or extra knowledge dare to do this.
